How to migrate to API Keys Authorization

If you experience Expired Export Job and/or Refresh token failed errors frequently, migrating to API Keys authorisation method will resolve the aforementioned issues. 


To make the setup easier, we suggest opening two browser tabs: one for Business Central and one for Pleo.


1. Disconnect the Pleo Integration

  1. In Business Central, access Pleo Integration Setup
  2. Click Disconnect
  3. Ensure the integration is disconnected in Pleo
  4. If disconnect failed, access Pleo Integration Setup 
  5. Click More Options > Actions > Update Access Token > Disconnect


2. Generate a new API Key in Pleo

  1. In Pleo, go to Settings
  2. Navigate to Accounting
  3. Select Business Central On-Premises 
  4. Follow the instructions
  5. Copy the API Key 
  6. Close the modal


Even if you use Cloud Business Central, you must select Business Central On-Premises to migrate to the new API Key authorisation.


3. Connect Business Central with the API Key

  1. In Pleo Integration Setup in Business Central, access the Connection tab
  2. Click Show more
  3. Change Authentication Type to API Key
  4. Paste the obtained API key in the API Key field
  5. Click Connect


4. Confirm the new connection

  1. In Pleo, go to Settings
  2. Navigate to Accounting
  3. Confirm that Business Central On-Premises is now appearing
  4. In Pleo Integration Setup in Business Central, click Tax Codes Setup
  5. Click Sync with Pleo
  6. In Pleo, check that the Contra Accounts and Categories pages under Accounting are in place
  7. Export an expense
